TLA are currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the team at our Head Office in Bingham. The ideal candidate will have industry and product knowledge able to deliver excellent customer service to our key customers over the phone, face to face in branch or via email to drive customer loyalty.
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be a key point of contact, providing administrative and purchasing support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the purchasing function. You will liaise with suppliers and internal departments, process purchase orders, monitor deliveries, maintain accurate records, and help resolve any order or supply issues. Working closely with the wider team, you will support efficient stock replenishment, build strong supplier relationships, and help ensure materials and services are available to meet business needs.
Core Purchasing Responsibilities
· Work within our centralised purchasing team, placing orders manually & digitally with suppliers
· Managing and maintaining stock levels
· Reviewing stock levels and requirements
· Monitoring internal transfers between branches
- Following up with suppliers
- Updating the team about any delays or problems with suppliers
- Researching new products and suppliers
· Working closely with sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met and with the warehouse teams to ensure delivery errors are dealt with correctly
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers
- Presenting cost analyses to the department
- Maintaining records of supplier contracts
- Staying up to date with industry trends
- Maintaining strong relationships with vendors
Skills That Will Set You Up for Success
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and time management skills. The ideal candidate will be confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers and internal teams are essential. Previous purchasing or administrative experience is an advantage, along with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.
