Trainee Port Operative (12-Month Fixed Term Contract) Ref: TPO06/26
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced team members to gain necessary skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications to safely and competently carry out general port operative duties, including operation of cranes and other plant/machinery.
Essential Criteria:
- A minimum of 1 year experience in an industrial environment
- A minimum of 6 months relevant work experience in manual labouring
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and near water
- A good standard of verbal communication skills
- Basic IT skills to include experience using email and Microsoft Office applications
- Full current driving licence
- Willingness to train in all types of dock work, plant and machinery
- Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties
- Ability to both follow instructions and to work on own initiative
- Enthusiastic attitude and approach
Desirable Criteria:
- Have an understanding and knowledge of health and safety
- Experience driving plant and machinery i.e. cranes, bobcat, forklift, loading shovel
- Experience using and Asset Management system
