Position: Bakery Hygiene Operative
Location: Market Harborough

MHT Foods is a growing, family-run food manufacturer based in Market Harborough, producing high-quality cakes, tray bakes, preserves, chutneys, and condiments across two local production sites. Our bakery site specialises in hand-crafted cakes and tray bakes, while our dedicated preserves site focuses on the careful production of jams, chutneys, and condiments.

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing team as a Bakery Hygiene Operative. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm, with an immediate start available.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to build their skills in a supportive working environment. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided, although an interest in food production or manufacturing would be beneficial.

The role would suit a reliable and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards. You’ll be joining a friendly and experienced team within a well-established local business, offering a stable and supportive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

· Carry out all cleaning activities in accordance with the site Cleaning Schedule, ensuring standards are consistently met.

· Safely dismantle, clean, and reassemble equipment, replacing worn parts in line with manufacturer specifications.

· Perform general cleaning duties as required by a Hygiene Operative.

· Ensure all tasks are completed in full compliance with site health and safety procedures.

· Complete all required training relevant to the role.

· Support and assist with the site’s pest control programme.

· Communicate requirements for hygiene equipment, consumables, uniform, and PPE in a timely manner.

· Accurately complete and maintain all routine hygiene records and documentation.

· Report any issues or maintenance requirements relating to hygiene equipment promptly and effectively.

· Promote and support site waste reduction and recycling initiatives.

· Actively contribute to continuous improvement of hygiene standards and associated costs through problem-solving and suggestions.

· Embrace and support change, contributing positively to new initiatives and processes.

· Assist with preparation for and day-to-day management of third-party audits.

· Provide support to other departments as required to ensure hygiene standards and objectives are consistently achieved.

· Detail-oriented: maintains a high level of accuracy in all tasks, ensuring cleaning standards, records, and procedures are consistently followed and nothing is overlooked.

· Hardworking & self-motivated: able to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities effectively to meet daily hygiene requirements.

· Responsible & professional: demonstrates a proactive and forward-thinking approach, with the confidence to communicate effectively with management and raise any issues or improvements.

· Flexible & adaptable: willing to support across all hygiene duties as required, responding positively to changing priorities and operational needs.

· Reliable & trustworthy: consistently punctual, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards, with a strong sense of accountability in all aspects of the role.
