Full job description

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide support to learners, work as a cover lecturer and shows passion to become a permanent member of the lecturing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the Academic team to raise the achievement of students at Apex College. The role will involve liaising closely with pastoral and academic managers, senior tutors, and lecturers to identify, monitor and support students who are at risk of underachieving, and in serious cases, dropping off course or leaving college due to lack of progress.

Some of the most common responsibilities can include:

Support students with their study skills, time management, organisation and

attitude to study.

Assist the Student Support team to remove barriers to learning so that the student may achieve their potential.
Hold 1:1 meeting with students and offer small group study support sessions where appropriate.
Liaise with supported students’ subject lecturers to understand unit and assignment requirements, deadlines, and targets appropriate to the student and support the student in achieving these.
Assist and signpost students to learning resources in college systems.
Develop a bank of recourses to aid good practices when submitting assignments and referencing.
Liaise with supported students’ subject lecturers to understand assignments.
Liaise with the Safeguarding officer to identify and meet students’ support and welfare needs.
Attend College events, briefings, and meetings as part of the College’s meeting schedule.
Keep a record of support provided to students.
Create resources to meet student needs that require additional support
Conduct cover lessons during staff absence
Knowledge and experience working in the Education sector is essential.
Deal confidently and sensitively with students and team members.
IT literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Moodle and Turnitin system.
Take part in co-teaching sessions to understand the teaching requirements of the course to fully skilled to become a permanent lecturer.

Minimum requirements are:

Completion of a BTEC HND Diploma or higher and/or preferably a bachelor's degree.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: £23,200.00-£26,000.00 per year
