Koala Klubs provides fun, safe and engaging holiday camps for children during the school holidays. Our camps give children the opportunity to make friends, try new activities, build confidence and enjoy an exciting holiday experience in a caring and well-organised environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and confident Camp Manager to lead one of our Koala Klubs summer holiday camps.
Role Overview
The Camp Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the camp, ensuring that children are safe, happy and engaged throughout the day. You will lead the camp team, oversee activities, communicate with parents and carers, and make sure the camp runs smoothly, safely and in line with Koala Klubs policies and procedures.
This is a key leadership role suited to someone who is organised, energetic and passionate about working with children.
Key Responsibilities
Camp Leadership and Management
Manage the daily operation of the Koala Klubs camp, ensuring all sessions run safely, smoothly and on time. Lead, motivate and support the camp team, making sure staff understand their roles and responsibilities each day.
Safeguarding and Child Welfare
Ensure the safety, wellbeing and supervision of all children attending camp. Follow Koala Klubs safeguarding procedures at all times and act promptly and appropriately if any concerns arise.
Activity Delivery
Oversee a varied programme of fun, age-appropriate activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, team challenges and themed sessions. Support staff in delivering activities that are inclusive, engaging and suitable for all children.
Health and Safety
Carry out daily checks of the camp environment and equipment. Ensure risk assessments, registers, accident forms and other records are completed accurately. Respond calmly and effectively to accidents, incidents or emergencies.
Parent and Carer Communication
Welcome children and families each day, providing a friendly and professional first point of contact. Communicate clearly with parents and carers regarding their child’s day, any incidents, medical needs or general updates.
Staff Supervision
Brief staff at the start of each day, delegate tasks, monitor performance and provide guidance where needed. Encourage a positive team culture and ensure all staff maintain high standards of behaviour, professionalism and care.
Administration
Maintain accurate attendance registers, incident logs, medical information and daily paperwork. Ensure all Koala Klubs procedures are followed and report any issues to senior management promptly.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be:
Confident leading a team and managing a busy children’s setting.
Friendly, approachable and professional when dealing with children, parents and staff.
Highly organised, reliable and able to use initiative.
Calm under pressure and able to respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
Passionate about creating a fun, safe and inclusive environment for children.
Able to communicate clearly and positively with children of different ages.
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children in a school, nursery, holiday camp, childcare, sports coaching or similar setting.
Experience supervising or leading a team.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally.
Availability during the summer school holidays.
Willingness to complete relevant checks and training, including an enhanced DBS check where required.
Desirable Requirements
Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Safeguarding training.
Experience managing a holiday camp or childcare setting.
Sports coaching, teaching, childcare or playwork qualification.
Food hygiene training.
