Full job description

Stuart Line Cruise are a multi-award-winning, family-run passenger boat company. Operating year-round, we offer a diverse range of scenic and educational boat tours of the River Exe, English Riviera and Jurassic Coast, as well as private charter including live band nights, weddings and birthday parties etc. The boats have fully licensed bars, offering a wide range of local ales, gin and other drinks, as well as snacks including ice creams, pasties, soup and freshly prepared cream teas.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly professional and efficient boat crew team. The successful candidate will positively contribute to the success of the best passenger boat company in the South West by adopting a helpful approach and a willingness to use own initiative, whilst working adaptively and collaboratively with others.

Through appropriate training, you will gain the skills & knowledge associated with hospitality and boating to help with an ongoing career within the industry that can be applied to many other careers.

Key duties will also include;

To interact with customers and colleagues in a professional, helpful, friendly and confident manner.
To go above and beyond expectations to enhance customer experience - in particular, answering questions to the best of your ability, in relation to the history, beauty and wildlife of the surrounding areas and to ask when unsure.
To identify customer profiles, serving food and drinks in accordance to their individual preferences, whilst maintaining excellent standards of presentation, food safety and hygiene, including awareness of food allergies and intolerance's.
To adhere to all-round high expectations of the company, with regards to completion of a diverse range of given tasks to the required standard.
To adopt a conscientious approach in all aspects of work and to show willingness to learn new skills, including basic skills in firefighting, rope work and first aid.
To implement common sense at all times and to recognise when to ask questions and refer to more senior members of staff, in order to maintain maximum safety aboard vessels and on the shore.
To maintain high standards of housekeeping, including thorough cleaning of all parts of vessels – especially windows and toilets.
To work methodically in relation to taking food and drink orders, in order to achieve maximum efficiency in serving customers.
To share responsibility for the overall safe operation of vessels, including rope work (tying, untying and picking up moorings).
To maintain punctuality at all times with regards to working hours.
To adhere to the company’s smart uniform policy. Shirt & Jacket provided.
To demonstrate understanding and compliance to the company’s Domestic Safety Management plan and to share responsibility for own training, learning and development.
To contribute to effective management of the on-board bar, including efficient stock-taking, stock rotation and visual merchandising skills, with an awareness and appreciation of financial implications to the company.
To apply basic skills in mental maths in order to add up bar prices, collect money and issue correct change. To assist in ticket sales.
Depending on your skills and experience, you may be asked to assist with maintenance of boats and general workshop duties.
