Full job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Pixieland Saltash. We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Deputy Manager for our Saltash nursery. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in leading a team, fostering a nurturing environment, and contributing to the holistic development of children. Main Duties:

Working under the Manager’s direction and deputising in their absence
Supporting the nursery’s aims and objectives and helping in high-quality establishment management
Ensuring high standards of childcare and education, including monitoring and provision review
Leading and supporting staff, promoting an enabling environment for children
Promoting the nursery’s aims and maintaining high standards at all times
Assisting in operational management, including staffing schedules and administrative tasks
Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining high hygiene levels
Supporting early identification and intervention for children with special needs
Maintaining confidentiality of all sensitive information
Assisting in staff development and training
Liaising with parents, staff, and external agencies as required
Involvement in out-of-hours activities such as training, meetings, and events
Carrying out room and peer observations

Skills Required:

Strong leadership and good communication skills
Proficiency in using computers
Adaptability and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Personal Qualities:

Politeness, patience, and punctuality
Diligence, trustworthiness, and reliability
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications:

Must hold NVQ level 3 in childcare or above
Minimum of 2 years experience in childcare
