Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, and shuttle buses to transport goods or passengers efficiently.
- Load and unload cargo using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts, ensuring proper handling and secure placement.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles by performing routine interior and exterior cleaning tasks to uphold company standards.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles with attention to mechanical details, reporting any issues promptly for maintenance.
- Follow established routes and schedules diligently, adapting to traffic conditions and delivery priorities.
- Assist with moving supplies or equipment within warehouses or job sites as needed.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate deliveries and pickups effectively.
Experience
- Proven experience operating commercial vehicles such as box trucks, tractor-trailers, or shuttle buses.
- Familiarity with driving manual transmission vehicles and heavy equipment operation including forklifts or dump trucks.
- Previous warehouse experience or roles involving freight handling, load & unload procedures, or yard jockey duties.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy haul, tanker operations, or heavy equipment use.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating routes, deliveries, and safety checks.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical inspections and understand vehicle maintenance needs.
- Experience with route driving in various environments such as school bus routes or paratransit services is advantageous.
