Are you an experienced, motivated and qualified Planning Officer looking for an opportunity to make a tangible impact within a busy, forward-thinking Development Management service?
If so, we have an opportunity for you.
We are seeking a talented planner to take on an exciting, unique project-focused role that sits at the heart of improving how planning conditions are used, discharged, and monitored across the borough. This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on casework with meaningful service improvement, helping to unlock high-quality development across Doncaster.
This role will play a leading part in delivering a major service improvement project, focused on reducing the backlog of condition discharge applications and embedding a more efficient, consistent approach to planning conditions in the long term.
You will:
-
Manage a caseload of planning applications, with a strong focus on condition discharge submissions, ensuring timely and high-quality decisions
- Lead the review and modernisation of all standard planning conditions, working collaboratively with teams to embed best practice
- Lead the development and implementation of a long term conditions monitoring strategy to support the efficient delivery of high-quality development.
We are therefore seeking a highly motivated and experienced officer to play a key part in the delivery of this project. With considerable experience within Development Management, you will have excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; you will work well in a team environment, with a challenging but interesting case load. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to use their hands-on experience to make a real difference to how our service operates on a strategic level.
You will join a highly skilled and supportive team that embraces innovation and modern ways of working. Our service has been at the forefront of digital planning transformation, giving you the opportunity to work in a forward-thinking environment.
The successful candidate will have the ability to proactively manage their own caseloads and collaborate positively with a range of colleagues from across the council, as well as external stakeholders, developers, Elected Members, and the general public.
Doncaster is one of the best places to invest in the UK, with ambitious development plans and a strong vision for the future. From large-scale regeneration projects to allocations through our adopted Development Plan, this role offers the chance to shape the city’s landscape and contribute to its long-term success.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a positive, dedicated, and friendly service, working on interesting and varied projects so if you’re an ambitious planner and a strong desire to deliver real, positive change to the area, we want to hear from you.
We value a range of experiences and skills. If you have transferable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.
