We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Drivers Mate to join our delivery team in Dover.
This role involves assisting our delivery van driver with the delivery and installation of furniture to customers’ homes. You do not need to drive, but you must be physically fit, customer-friendly, practical, and able to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the driver with daily furniture deliveries
- Carrying and lifting sofas, beds, mattresses, and household furniture
- Helping assemble or position items in customers’ homes
- Reading delivery instructions and delivery addresses carefully
- Helping the driver locate delivery addresses and assisting with sat nav directions
- Calling customers approximately 30 minutes before delivery to make them aware of your arrival
- Using initiative and being hands-on when delivering furniture
- Working out safe and practical ways to manoeuvre sofas and large furniture through doorways, hallways, and staircases
- Providing excellent customer service at all times
- Ensuring deliveries are completed safely and efficiently
- Keeping the van clean and organised
- Supporting warehouse loading when required
Requirements
- Good level of physical fitness
- Reliable and punctual
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read and follow delivery instructions accurately
- Comfortable using maps and sat nav systems
- Hands-on attitude with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to use initiative and think practically during deliveries
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team
- Experience in furniture delivery or removals is helpful
