Our Butchery sits within our Food Hall and we pride ourselves on our outstanding meat on offer. We are proud to be certified as a butcher of 100% pasture fed beef in East Kent and we work with several farms in the South East that are certified by the PFLA.
THE ROLE
What you will do:
- Combine skilled whole‑carcass preparation with friendly, knowledgeable customer service
- Maintain exceptional counter displays
- Prepare a variety of products to the highest standard
- Develop and review products, to ensure that the butchery continues to offer exciting choices for customers
- Support customers throughout their visit, delivering the outstanding quality and service Macknade is known for

JOB DESCRIPTION
Post: Butcher
Responsible To: Butchery Manager
This role sits at the heart of the Macknade butchery experience, combining skilled whole‑carcass preparation with friendly, knowledgeable customer service. You will craft high‑quality cuts and products, maintain exceptional counter displays, and support customers throughout their visit, delivering the outstanding quality and service Macknade is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
· To provide excellent service to our customers, engaging with them throughout their Macknade experience.
· Prepare meat from the carcass and ensure the finished product is of an excellent standard and meat displays are of the highest quality.
· Undertaking a variety of duties such as prepare a variety of products, including sausages to the highest standard accurately preparing and serving butchery products, Till operation, counter preparation and cleaning duties within the business.
· To accurately process customer transactions at the point of sale.
· To maintain the counter presentation to a high standard including stock replenishment and rotation.
· Maintain the butchery HACCP procedures and ensure these are carried out, monitored and recorded correctly throughout the butchery.
· To actively participate in stock take and staff meeting.
· To participate in staff meetings and undertake training based on individual and operational needs.
· To comply with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection.
· To ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint.
· To demonstrate positive personal and professional behaviour as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct.
· To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.
Skills & Ability:
· Previous experience of whole carcass butchery and/or previous experience as a Chef.
· Excellent knife skills.
· The ability and drive to deliver outstanding customer service.
· Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
Pay: £33,150.00 per year
