About Mutley Plant Service Ltd

Mutley Plant Service Ltd specialises in the sale, hire, servicing, repair, modification, and installation of heavy demolition and excavator equipment. Working with a wide range of specialist machinery and attachments, we support customers across the demolition, recycling and construction industries.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on advanced demolition equipment, including excavator modifications, upgrades, servicing, and repair.

You will play a key role in maintaining, servicing and improving heavy mechanical and hydraulic machinery, helping to ensure reliable performance across our operations.

The position offers a varied working environment, combining workshop-based duties at our Aylesham facility with on-site servicing and repair work.

About You

We are looking for someone practical, reliable, and motivated, who takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You should be confident working independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Service, maintain, and repair heavy mechanical and hydraulic equipment

- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic systems and components

- Assemble hydraulic cylinders and associated components

- Install mechanical and hydraulic upgrades to excavators and demolition attachments

- Work both in the workshop and on-site as required

- Support continuous improvement of equipment reliability and performance

Requirements:

- Experience working with heavy machinery, ideally excavators and attachments

- Good understanding of hydraulic systems

- Full, UK driving licence

Desirable:

- Broad mechanical skill set across workshop and field environments

- Some welding and fabrication experience would be a benefit

- Willingness to develop skills and undertake further training
