Workng 4 days out of 7. 8.00am until 4.00pm
The Head Housekeeper is part of the care team and as such works with other staff and maintains a clean and safe environment for all Service users and staff. The work involves managing the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the Care Home and managing and participating in the cleaning rota as well as responsibility for the ordering of stock and stock checks.
Main duties:
1. Promote the Company Mission Statement at all times
2. Prioritise workload of, and allocate tasks to, Domestic and Laundry staff including weekly Rotas
3. Create and maintain cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodically etc) for all areas of the Care Home (excluding those maintained by Kitchen staff), in line with the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
4. Ensure that the following are carried out at appropriate intervals in all areas of the Care Home (excluding those maintained by Kitchen staff), in line with the Company’s Policies and Procedures:
· Thorough cleaning of all areas
· Dusting, vacuuming and washing down of all areas
· Cleaning of all windows
· Polishing of mirrors, brass plates on doors and furniture (as applicable)
· Dusting of all ledges, pictures, high areas and skirting boards
· Shampooing of carpets and polishing floorings
· Cleaning of curtains and furniture
· Emptying / cleaning of waste bins
· Ordering and restocking of cleaning products, toiletries, soaps, towels, laundry, bedding etc
5. Conduct random audit checks of all areas of the Care Home (excluding those maintained by Kitchen staff), at appropriate intervals, to ensure cleaning has been properly carried out
6. Continuously assess the work of all staff members in your team to ensure consistently high standards
7. Liaise with the Care Manager regarding the effectiveness of cleaning products and ensure their safe storage.
8. Liaise with the Care Manager when ordering cleaning products. Undertake monthly stock checks.
9. Manage and maintain monthly cleaning records, agreed budgets, in conjunction with the Care Manager.
10. Prepare housekeeping rotas reflecting the appropriate cleaning times of the Care Home. Ensure staff members adhere to these rotas.
11. Interview for new staff members with the Care Manager as and when required in line with the Company’s Recruitment Policy.
12. Liaise with the Care Manager regarding COSHH training as and when needed.
13. Supervise, train and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of Domestic and Laundry work in the Care Home, giving help, support and guidance, where appropriate.
14. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
15. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
16. Adhere to the Care Home’s disposal of waste policy.
17. Report immediately to the Care manager or person in charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Service User, colleague, self or another.
18. Understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Home’s Health and Safety Policy, and Emergency and Fire Procedures.
19. Report to the Care Manager, or the Maintenance person, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
20. Promote Safe working practice in the Care Home.
21. Comply with all Company Policies and Procedures in relation to Infection Control and Prevention.
Communication
1. Maintain confidentiality at all times in relation to the Data Protection Act 1998
2. Arrange / participate in staff and client meetings as required
3. Understand the importance of correct record management and own personal responsibilities in maintaining this through passwords, storage of documentation and sharing information (both paper-based and electronically)
4. Report breeches of records security to the line manager or Caldicott Guardian
General
1. To be aware of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and your own responsibilities under this Act.
2. To participate in training programs which may be required either by law or Company Policy.
3. To report for duty at the correct time in accordance with the duty rota. Endeavour to cover colleagues’ duties in time of sickness or holidays.
4. To report for duty in a clean and tidy uniform and following the dress code as set out in the Employee handbook.
5. To abide by the Home’s Employee Handbook and Company Policies and Procedures.
6. To be flexible and adaptable in participating in other jobs which are necessary for the smooth running of the Home and the safety of Service Users.
7. To have an understanding of requirements detailed in the Health & Social Care Act 2008 in line with standards set by the Regulators.
8. Support the Care Manager with the home’s marketing plan
9. Promote, ensure and maintain good relationships with service users, staff and outside professionals and visitors
10. Ensure that the security of the Home is maintained at all times.
11. Comply with the Company Policy in relation to infection control and prevention.
12. To work within the company’s Information Governance policies in order to maintain security of personal and sensitive data.
