Job Summary
We are seeking highly motivated Fibre Optic Engineers to join our specialist team at HMNB Portsmouth. The role involves maintenance and new capability insertion work on Naval Ships, including blown optical fibre networks and associated systems. This position requires precision, professionalism and the ability to work effectively within a small engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, testing and installation of blown optical fibre networks and associated systems onboard Naval Ships.
- Work from our offices at HMNB Portsmouth, with regular attendance onboard vessels.
- Support document reviews and produce technical documentation, including scopes of work and engineering forms.
- Contribute to team outputs and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Work flexibly in line with Ships’ programmes, including occasional weekend working (typically one weekend per month).
Essential Requirements
- Must be located in Portsmouth or the immediate surrounding areas (applications outside this radius cannot be considered).
- Previous fibre optic experience.
- Strong computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to multi‑task and manage workload effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- UKSV SC clearance and BPSS (can be provided for the right candidate).
- Experience within Naval or Defence environments.
Working Pattern & Benefits
- 37.5 hours per week + paid OTE.
