Powered Access Engineer / LOLER Inspector
Full-time, permanent position
We are looking for a reliable, experienced and safety-conscious Powered Access Engineer / LOLER Inspector to join our team.
The role involves inspecting, servicing, diagnosing and repairing scissor lifts, cherry pickers and other powered-access equipment. You will also carry out LOLER thorough examinations, ensuring machinery is safe, compliant and ready for hire.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out LOLER thorough examinations on scissor lifts, cherry pickers and other powered-access machinery.
- Complete detailed inspection reports and certification accurately.
- Service, maintain and repair powered-access equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Carry out breakdown repairs in the workshop and at customer sites.
- Complete pre-delivery inspections to ensure machines are safe and ready for hire.
- Identify defects, wear, damage and safety-related issues.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
- Record inspections, repairs and servicing using a PDA, tablet or computer-based system.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with relevant safety requirements.
- Communicate clearly with customers, hire controllers and other members of the team.
- Keep the workshop, service vehicle and work areas clean, tidy and organised.
- Maintain tools, equipment and testing devices in good working order.
- Report serious defects or safety concerns immediately.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant should have:
- Previous experience as a powered-access, plant, forklift, agricultural or construction-equipment engineer.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience inspecting, servicing and repairing scissor lifts and cherry pickers.
- A good understanding of LOLER requirements and thorough examination procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to completing work correctly.
- The ability to work independently and manage their workload.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Confidence using a PDA, tablet or computer.
- A professional, reliable and safety-conscious attitude.
- Confidence working at height and operating powered-access machinery.
- A full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
The following qualifications would be advantageous:
- IPAF qualification.
- CAP qualification or another recognised LOLER inspection qualification.
- Manufacturer training on powered-access equipment.
- Forklift or telehandler certification.
- Relevant mechanical, electrical or engineering qualifications.
Applicants with strong powered-access engineering experience who do not currently hold a LOLER inspection qualification may still be considered, depending on their experience and training requirements.
Position Details
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Workshop-based work and travel to customer sites.
- Company vehicle may be provided where required for the role.
- Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
