Full job description

We are a busy and growing skip hire and waste management company seeking an experienced and highly organised Accounts Assistant to join our friendly team. This is a varied role within a fast-paced environment, requiring the candidate to have previous payroll and general accounting experience and possess a thorough, meticulous and methodical approach to the position.

Key Responsibilities

· Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.

· Submission of Real-Time Information reports, processing statutory deductions, and submitting accurate, on-time payments and filings directly to HMRC.

· Maintaining purchase and sales ledgers.

· Raising invoices and processing supplier invoices.

· Managing customer accounts and allocating payments.

· Chasing outstanding debts by telephone and email.

· Monitoring aged debtor reports and reducing overdue balances.

· Processing daily bank and cash/card sales transactions in Sage.

· Bank reconciliations.

· Processing VAT-related transactions and assisting with VAT returns.

· Supporting with month-end procedures.

· Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.

· Assisting the Finance Manager with general accounting duties as required.

· Liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding account queries.

Essential Requirements

· Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.

· Proven experience processing payroll.

· Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software.

· Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Strong communication and negotiation skills.

· Reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.

· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable Requirements

· Experience within the waste management, transport, logistics, or skip hire industry.

· Knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.

Competitive rates of pay - between £14 - £16 per hour depending on experience

Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
