Overview
Our Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations within our food production facility, in packing and cutting, ensuring all processes run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety regulations. This role involves managing production teams, optimising workflows, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence.
Duties:
Operations Management
· Oversee all factory activities, including cutting, packaging, ensuring proactive management of equipment and labour utilising lean techniques.
· Develop and implement production plans to meet daily, weekly, and monthly output targets.
· Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimise downtime.
· Ensure efficient use of raw materials, labour, and resources to control costs.
· Manage, train, and motivate production supervisors and operational staff.
· Foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
· Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development programmes.
· Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production demands.
Quality & Food Safety
· Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, BRC, SMETA etc.).
· Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product quality standards.
· Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential compliance risks.
· Lead corrective and preventive actions when quality issues arise.
Health, Safety & Environment
· Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and minimise workplace hazards.
· Conduct safety trainings, drills, and risk assessments.
· Ensure the facility meets environmental compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement
· Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
· Implement lean manufacturing practices and process optimisation initiatives.
· Support the introduction of new technologies or production lines.
Reporting & Administration
· Prepare and analyse production performance reports for senior management.
· Oversee inventory management, including raw materials and finished goods.
· Manage operational budgets and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications / Experience:
· Proven experience (5+ years) in a fast-paced food manufacturing or FMCG production management.
· Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC).
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
· Proficiency in production planning and ERP systems is a plus.
