Trades Apprenticeships 2026 - Electrician
We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious Apprentice Electrician to join our Properties Team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience whilst working towards a recognised Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship qualification.
Working alongside qualified electricians, you will support the delivery of high-quality electrical repairs and maintenance services across Salix Homes' property portfolio. You will develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and behaviours required to become a qualified electrician whilst helping to ensure our customers' homes remain safe and well maintained.
The role – What You'll be doing
- Assist with first and second fix electrical works, fault finding, testing and associated making-good works.
- Work under the supervision of qualified electricians on reactive repairs and planned maintenance programmes.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and complete job documentation, including test certificates, using a PDA.
- Identify and report any property issues observed during visits, including damp and mould concerns.
- Assist with ordering materials and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Work in accordance with BS 7671, Part P Building Regulations, and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Attend and successfully complete all apprenticeship training, assessments and college requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service when working in customers' homes.
- Promote Salix Homes values and contribute to a positive safeguarding culture at all times.

What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in the electrical trade and a commitment to completing a Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work methodically, safely and follow instructions from qualified supervisors.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexible and reliable approach to work and learning.
- Basic awareness of electrical principles and health and safety within a trades environment (desirable but not essential as full training will be provided).
- Understanding of the importance of working safely around electricity.
- Previous exposure to construction, maintenance, practical work is advantageous but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence, or working towards obtaining one, is desirable.
Apprenticeship pay:
- National min & living wage salary: £12.71 per hour (aged over 21yrs)
- 18 to 20 £10.85 per hour
- Under & Apprentice £8 per hour
