The role:
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused 1st/2nd Line IT Engineer to join our IT support team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for technology and a desire to grow their technical skills in a dynamic environment. You will be the first point of contact for IT support queries and will also assist with the implementation and maintenance of IT systems.
The successful candidate will be based in Manchester, but occasional visits to our customer sites may be required, so a full driving license is needed.
Part of the role may also include paid overtime through OOH support for some of our key customers.
This is a varied and exciting role in a rapidly growing business, with the opportunity to work with a wide variety of systems and technologies through innovative projects and implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a first-class customer experience for our customers
- 1st and 2nd line technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Support Microsoft 365 applications and user account management.
- Escalate complex issues to 3rd line support or relevant teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of issues and resolutions.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding of staff including equipment setup.
- Contribute to IT projects and system upgrades as needed.
Technical Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in a 1st or 2nd line IT support role.
- Comfortable engaging with customers over the phone and in-person
- Good understanding of Windows OS and Microsoft 365.
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with Active Directory and user account management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCP, or equivalent.
- Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure or Intune
