Performance and Intelligence Analyst (2 posts - Corporate & Acute Analytics) Band 5 (Fixed Term 12 months), Full Time (36 hours)
Do you enjoy turning complex data into clear stories that help people make better decisions? We’re looking for a curious, proactive Performance and Intelligence Analyst to join our Performance and Intelligence Team. In this role, you’ll work in-person alongside hospital teams at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary to spot patterns, apply analytic techniques, and generate practical, data-driven insights that supports the delivery of acute services.
What you’ll do
Deliver near-time operational analysis that supports performance improvement, planning and decision-making.
Explore data to identify trends, variation and emerging risks/opportunitiesthen translate findings into clear meaningful insights.
Use appropriate analytic methods (benchmarking, standardised rates, statistical process control, significance testing) to answer real-world service questions.
Build dashboards, write reports and present findings to help teams understand what the numbers mean and what to do next.
Support work linked to the delivery of acute and diagnostic services including the Emergency Department, unscheduled care, planned care and outpatients.
Work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues from different public sector organisations including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, social workers, planners, team leads and senior management to support service improvement work from first question to implemented change.
What we’re looking for
Experience analysing and interpreting data to support operational or corporate decision-making (healthcare experience welcomed but not essential).
Confidence working with data tools (for example Excel, SQL, Power BI, R or Python) and an interest in improving your analytic toolkit.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality, information governance and ethical use of information.
Ability to explain complex findings clearly, both in writing and when presenting to colleagues.
A collaborative approach: you enjoy working with people, asking good questions, and helping teams turn insight into improvement.
