The role
The Laundry and Kitchen Assistant is responsible for providing a high standard of laundry services ensuring that all items are cleaned, pressed, and stored appropriately. This role involves operating laundry equipment, sorting and folding laundry, and maintaining a clean and organised work environment. Full training will be provided

Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry items according to established procedures
- Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washers and dryers
- Ensure that all laundry items are cleaned to the highest standards and returned in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organised laundry area, including cleaning machines and work surfaces
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Where required, assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking laundry supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service and address any laundry-related inquiries or concerns.
- Assist in the preparation of meals, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the Head Chef or Chef.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with food safety and health and safety regulations
- Help with the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations for restaurant service.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support the kitchen team with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and organising stock.
- Collaborate with Chefs to ensure timely meal preparation and presentation.
- Participate in menu planning by providing feedback on dishes and assisting with recipe development when required.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role is preferred
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key
- A current Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred but not essential
- Ability to operate laundry equipment and perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying laundry loads.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities as needed in a dynamic kitchen setting.
- A genuine passion for food preparation and catering is essential for success in this role.
Other Considerations:
This role is working 40 hours per week, over 5 days, including weekends,
Working Conditions: The role involves standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and laundry equipment.
