Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full Time Carer to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including care homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those in their care, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable adults, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or requiring hospice care.

Duties

Deliver personalised patient care in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support
Administer medication safely following prescribed instructions and maintain accurate records of medication administration
Support clients with meal preparation and nutritional needs, ensuring dietary requirements are met
Manage behaviour effectively through behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies
Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive environment
Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment
Support clients with mobility and transfer using appropriate techniques and equipment
Document observations and report any changes in health or behaviour to relevant healthcare professionals or case managers
Drive clients safely to appointments or outings when required, maintaining compliance with road safety regulations

Qualifications

Relevant experience in nursing homes, care homes, or home care environments is highly desirable
Certification in First Aid is essential; additional qualifications such as NVQ in Health & Social Care are advantageous
Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and care planning processes
Experience with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice care, or senior care is preferred
Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and case management principles
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Valid driving licence is preferred for roles involving client transportation
