We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and approachable Dental Receptionist to become an important part of our front-of-house and practice team.
This is a busy role where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring our patients receive a warm, professional welcome while helping the practice run efficiently and ensuring our clinicians’ books and clinics are kept full and productive.
The role
You will be responsible for the smooth running of reception and supporting the clinical team with the day-to-day operation of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all patients, both NHS and private.
- Answering telephone calls promptly and professionally and dealing confidently with patient enquiries.
- Coordinating and managing appointments efficiently and effectively.
- Keeping dentists’ books and clinical diaries full, helping to maximise available clinical time.
- Organising patients efficiently to ensure clinics run smoothly.
- Creating new patient profiles and maintaining accurate patient records using dental software systems.
- Processing card and other patient payments.
- Carrying out end-of-day cashing-up procedures accurately.
- Scanning information to and from the computer and managing electronic documentation.
- Checking clinical and laboratory work in and out of the practice.
- Filing NHS documentation where required.
- Supporting the clinical team and assisting with the smooth running of the practice.
- Helping with general reception and administrative duties as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic, friendly and approachable, with a naturally warm and welcoming manner.
- Professional, organised and reliable.
- Highly attentive to detail and accurate in their work.
- An excellent communicator, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Confident dealing with patients and members of the public.
- Comfortable working in a busy environment and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Confident using computers, IT systems and dental practice software.
- Comfortable handling payments and carrying out financial procedures accurately.
- Proactive, efficient and able to use initiative.
- A genuine team player who is willing to support colleagues wherever needed.
Experience
Dental or medical reception experience is highly preferred and would be extremely valuable.
Previous dental nursing experience would also be advantageous, as an understanding of the dental environment and clinical workflows would be beneficial. However, we would also consider candidates with strong relevant experience who demonstrate the right attitude, communication skills and ability to learn.
Working hours
Monday to Thursday: 8:45am – 5:15pm
Friday: 8:45am – 4:45pm
Lunch: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Some flexibility may occasionally be required to support the needs of the practice, including later working hours when necessary.
