Full job description

Swift Fuels Ltd is seeking a reliable, organised and practical Yard Assistant to join our team in Downpatrick. Working from our new modern distribution hub, Swift Fuels are a commercial and domestic oil and solid fuels wholesaler and distirbutor.
This is a varied, hands-on role with responsibility for contributing to the day-to-day operations of our distribution yard together with basic administration, deliveries, and general support across the business.
The successful candidate will be a responsible and trusted colleague and key holder, helping to ensure the premises, vehicles, stock and equipment are secure, organised and kept to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
* Receive, check, store and organise stock, materials and equipment.
* ⁠Ability to communicate confidently with customers via Phone, Email and Face to Face.
* ⁠Accurate record keeping of client orders and enquiries.
* Assist with stock control and prepare goods for collection or delivery.
* Load and unload vehicles safely and maintain appropriate delivery/collection records.
* Keep company vehicles clean, tidy, and report any issues.
* Undertake basic administration relating to stock, orders, deliveries, and vehicles.
* Assist with minor maintenance and upkeep of company assets.
* Identify and report maintenance, security or health & safety issues.
* Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised working environment.
* Act as a key holder, opening and securing the premises as required.
* Provide practical support to the wider Swift Fuels team and undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Essential Requirements
* Full clean UK driving licence and aged 21+ for fleet insurance purposes.
* Reliable, punctual and capable of working independently.
* Good organisational and basic administrative skills.
* Good communication skills
* Physically capable of loading/unloading products and carrying out practical duties including deliveries.
* Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices.
* ⁠A sound working standard in numeracy, literacy and systems.
* ⁠Strong work ethic essential
* ⁠Well presented and customer focused.

Desirable
* Experience in a commercial environment .
* Forklift (or similar) experience (Training can be provided)
* ⁠Previous experience in a similar role

The Person
You will be someone who is dependable, trustworthy, well presented, have a motivated positive attitude with the ability to take responsibility without constant supervision.
