Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Cook to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will support the kitchen staff in preparing and serving high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in food preparation and kitchen operations.

Duties

Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients
Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from senior chefs
Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times
Help with meal plating and presentation to ensure an appealing appearance
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Assist with stock rotation and inventory management
Serve meals to customers or staff as required, ensuring prompt and courteous service
Follow health and safety regulations to create a safe working environment for all staff

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen roles is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic cooking skills with a keen interest in developing culinary expertise
Experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
