The Role
As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading and continuously improving the company’s Health and Safety strategy, systems and culture, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory and company requirements. You will provide expert Health and Safety advice and leadership across the business, driving effective risk management, incident prevention, occupational health, contractor safety and emergency preparedness.
Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you will promote employee engagement, continuous improvement and accountability, ensuring Health and Safety considerations are embedded into business decisions and day-to-day operational activities.
**We welcome applications from part-time candidates who are seeking a 3 or 4 day working week.**
Days: Flexible to suit the right candidate, open to discussion with 1 day working from home
Hours: 830am – 5pm / Flexible start and finish times
Salary: £50k-£60k (full time equivalent), dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve H&S systems, policies and standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture, accountability and employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S legislation and regulations.
- Lead risk assessments and maintain effective safe working practices.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, driving corrective actions.
- Deliver inspections, audits and performance reviews to identify key risks.
- Manage occupational health, environmental and workplace safety risks.
- Oversee contractor safety, permits and high-risk work activities.
- Deliver H&S training, toolbox talks and safety awareness initiatives.
- Advise senior management and drive continuous H&S improvement.
Essential Criteria
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
- Significant H&S experience (5+ years)
- Strong knowledge of Northern Ireland H&S legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, auditing and corrective actions.
- Experience managing H&S performance, KPIs, compliance and continual improvement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Membership of IOSH, IEMA or an equivalent professional body.
- Strong knowledge of process safety, machinery safety and machine safeguarding.
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Working knowledge and practical experience of ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
- Experience in shift-based manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience within food manufacturing.
- Experience managing contractors, projects and significant operational change.
- Experience engaging with regulators, external auditors and key stakeholders.
