Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting daily food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy food service environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the deli counter.

Duties

Assist with food preparation, including slicing, assembling, and packaging deli products
Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the counter
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area in compliance with food safety standards
Manage stock levels, restocking shelves as necessary
Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
Follow all health and safety regulations diligently
Support team members during busy periods to ensure prompt service
Ensure all food items are stored correctly and rotated appropriately

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is compulsory
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Experience with kitchen tasks or culinary activities is advantageous
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional attitude
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities
