Group Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Head Office, Hull, (including UK travel across all sites)
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000, depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
About the Opportunity
Rix Group is looking for a practical and proactive Group Health and Safety Advisor to join our Group Health, Safety and Environment function.
This is a varied role working across all Rix businesses and sites, supporting teams to manage risk, improve standards and apply health, safety and environmental requirements consistently. You will be part of a Group function that works closely with operational teams, helping people find sensible, workable solutions that support safe and compliant ways of working.
The role would suit someone with solid health and safety experience who enjoys variety, travel, problem solving and building strong working relationships across different parts of a business.
The role
You will support health, safety and environmental activity across the Group, including:
- Audits, inspections and compliance reviews
- Accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work
- Contractor management, RAMS reviews and permit-to-work arrangements
- Fire safety, first aid and emergency preparedness
- Environmental compliance and improvement actions
- KPI reporting, trend analysis and action tracking
- Toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness activity
- Preparation for external audits, regulatory visits and insurance inspections
- Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including site teams, managers, contractors, auditors, insurers, regulators and emergency services.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can provide practical advice, challenge constructively and help teams take ownership of health, safety and environmental standards.
You will need:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Experience in a dedicated health and safety role
- Good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, laws and regulations
- Working knowledge of environmental compliance in operational environments
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Experience with risk assessments, COSHH, safe systems of work, contractor management, permit-to-work arrangements, fire safety and emergency preparedness
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working across multiple sites, knowledge of ISO standards, IOSH membership, or working towards NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
