Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and responsible university student (preferably female) to support a homeschooler in their educational journey as they prepare for their GCSE's. This role does not require being an educational tutor and responsible for the curriculum, as the scholar is already registered with an educational provider which manages the curriculum, assignments and deadlines. However we are looking for someone who can provide in-person support to serve as an accountability partner, guidance with study methods and positive learning behaviours to assist the student to remain motivated and engaged.

The student will be writing GCSE's in Chemistry, Human Biology, Physics, Maths, English Language, Marine Science, Psychology and Business; and so a student who is either pursuing university studies in one of these fields or is comfortable with the nature of these learning-based subjects, and the study techniques required to organize learning materials and excel.

Again, it is not the responsibility of the person hired to be proficient in the educational system, be a qualified tutor or educator, nor someone interested in entering this field. Their primary role is to embody a positive and motivational approach to learning in order to pursue graduate studies.

Responsibilities

Support the scholar with homework and educational tasks
Act as an accountability partner and support for the scholar with deadlines and creating realistic goals week-on-week
Support the scholar in developing study techniques and research methods to facilitate learning and exam preparation
Support the organisation of daily schedules and educational resources
Act as a 'body double' in order for the student to achieve longer engagement periods
Act as a motivator and encourage engagement with learning.

Requirements

Enrolled as a university student or recent graduate
Proficient in English
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Compassionate, patient, and able to communicate clearly with a teen and parents
Reliable, punctual, and committed to supporting the student’s educational needs.

Pay: £15.00 per hour
