Job Overview
We are seeking a Pre‑Construction Design Technician to support our pre‑construction team in identifying project scope, carrying out take‑off measurements, and assisting with a range of design‑related tasks. This role plays a key part in ensuring designs are buildable, compliant, commercially viable, and ready for successful delivery.
- Identify and define project scope, ensuring all relevant details are captured and accurately measured
- Carry out detailed take‑off measurement and analysis from construction drawings
- Review architectural and technical drawings to understand design intent and translate this into buildable LockMetal solutions
- Analyse potential design development challenges across all interfaces and document findings clearly
- Identify Value Engineering and variation opportunities where appropriate
- Work closely with Pre‑Construction and Technical teams to ensure estimates allow for compliant designs that gain approval from architects, regulators, and warranty providers
- Liaise with Contractor Client Design Teams to explain and justify design solutions and technical decisions
- Support continuous improvement through ongoing learning, CPDs, and attendance at industry events
Skills & Attributes
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach
- Ability to interpret and coordinate multiple inter‑related construction drawings
- Understanding of RIBA stages of design
- Good technical understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Solid grasp of the commercial nature of construction projects
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
- Clear communicator with a proactive and positive attitude
Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
