About the role
We are looking for an Accounts Apprentice to join our small, friendly accountancy practice in Dunstable.
This is a great opportunity to start your career in accounting whilst gaining real, hands-on experience from day one. You will work with a variety of clients and support a range of bookkeeping and accounting tasks, all whilst studying towards a recognised AAT qualification.
You’ll be supported by experienced accountants and given the training, guidance and exposure needed to build your skills, confidence and long-term career in the profession.

What you’ll be doing
You will be part of the day-to-day running of the accounts team, including:
- Processing purchase and sales invoices, and receipts into accounting software
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring transactions are correctly coded
- Uploading supplier invoices and receipts to data capture systems
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Assisting with invoice processing and payment runs
- Monitoring outstanding supplier invoices and customer balances
- Supporting month-end bookkeeping tasks and bank reconciliations
- Assisting with VAT and CIS returns
- Supporting preparation of tax returns and statutory filings
- Liaising with clients to gather information and support their accounting needs
- Assisting senior team members with financial statements, reports and reconciliations
- Participating in training and development to build your accounting knowledge
About you
We’re looking for someone who is keen to build a career in accountancy and willing to learn.
- A Levels in accounts, business, economics or maths are helpful but not essential
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic understanding of accounting principles is beneficial but not required
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office
- A positive, professional and proactive attitude
- Willingness to learn and develop through study and on-the-job training
