Confident and mature Art Tutor wanted to teach adult students in Durham, part-time on a freelance contract.

- Day: Wednesday / 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm ( 12.30pm to 1.30pm is lunch break and is a paid break)
- Location: Newton Hall Community Centre, Pity me , Durham, DH1 5GU
- Dates: 2nd September (14 weeks)
- Rate of Pay: £126 per day depending on experience
We are looking for a wonderful part-time Art Tutor, throughout the year, for our 14-week courses, which we run on an ongoing basis.
Our courses are for adult students who are at beginner and improver level, and they consist of four modules: Drawing, Oil pastels, Watercolours and Acrylics.
You must have good experience in teaching or tutoring adult students for this role. A friendly demeanour and ability to confidently demonstrate good artwork in pencil, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylic paint are essential. An up-to-date DBS is mandatory.
Also;
- Fine Art degree or equivalent qualification- a confident artist Can handle pencil/ charcoal/ watercolour/ pastel and acrylic, with particular strength in portraiture .
- Commitment for 14 weeks during the course,hence flexible in holiday plans etc
- Physically fit( setting up of classroom including laying down tables and chairs, setting up of easels and other necessary drawing / painting materials on the tables , taking everything down and packing up at the end of the class )
- Patient and encouraging, especially with learners of different abilities and confidence levels.
- Kind, approachable, and able to create a welcoming classroom atmosphere.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain techniques clearly.
- Adaptable and able to tailor teaching to individual students' needs and learning styles.
- Organised and reliable, with good time management.
- A team player who works well with colleagues and supports the wider goals of the TSAC.
- Able to multitask and manage a class effectively while giving individual attention.
- Passionate about art and inspiring students to develop their creativity.
- Professional, positive, and proactive in dealing with challenges.
- Comfortable providing constructive feedback in a supportive manner.

Job Requirements:
About you:
- You've worked in similar roles before and have strong experience in tutoring art to groups or individuals.
- You are capable of producing good artwork in pencil, pastel, watercolour and acrylic paint and feel comfortable demonstrating your skills to groups of up to 20 people.
- You are friendly and approachable, and have great communication skills which you use to build strong relationships with your students.
- You're able to think on your feet and respond honestly to the demands of the students.

- You'll engage with our adult learners, building rapport to create a fun, nurturing and welcoming environment.
- Show students how to use different mediums and techniques and demonstrate how to create drawings and paintings.
- Provide one-to-one support and answer questions in class.
- Support learners in classes of 3 hour sessions.
