Salary: SO 1 / 2 - £37,020 - £42,612, plus allowances associated with the shift pattern
Allowances: 7.5% Irregular working hours and 267.58 hours Weekend Work Enhancement (Based on a starting salary of £37,020 this equates to approximately £7,900, gross, per annum)

We are seeking dedicated Police Staff Investigators (Level 2) to join our Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team. This is a challenging and highly rewarding role, supporting investigations into offences such as rape, familial child abuse, child sexual exploitation, and serious cases involving vulnerable adults.
You will play a vital role in ensuring investigations are victim-centred, suspect-focused, and context-led, while prioritising safeguarding and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating serious and complex offences involving vulnerable victims
- Interviewing suspects, victims, and witnesses in accordance with legislation and best practice
- Supporting vulnerable and intimidated witnesses to achieve best evidence
- Acting as Officer in the Case across ongoing and new investigations
- Conducting safeguarding assessments to prioritise victim safety and reduce risk
- Preparing high-quality case files for court and CPS submission
- Providing evidence in court as required
- Working in partnership with agencies such as social services and health professionals
- Supporting child death investigations where appropriate
- Using intelligence ethically to support crime reduction and safeguarding outcomes

- PIP Level 2 Accreditation
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with vulnerable individuals
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and concise reports and case files
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of investigative processes and relevant legislation
- IT proficiency and experience with information systems

Candidates who are currently PIP Level 1 qualified and are seeking to develop and accredit to PIP level 2 are welcome to apply. If successful you would be employed as a PSI level 1, and once PIP level 2 qualified and accredited you would commence in a PIP level 2 post. The role of Police Staff Investigator requires that you have your fingerprints and DNA taken and these will be stored on the contamination elimination database. This requirement is written in to your contract.
