Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Estimator to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within project cost assessment and estimation processes. The successful candidate will support senior estimators by preparing accurate cost analyses, assisting with project bids, and ensuring effective cost control measures are implemented throughout the project lifecycle. A strong understanding of cost control principles and excellent organisational skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for various projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
General understanding of other departments within the company to assist and secure a long term role, this includes ordering materials and ensuring projects start efficently.
Gather and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to inform pricing strategies.
Support the review of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to identify potential cost implications.
Compare cost comparision from our regular suppliers.
Maintain organised records of all estimation documents, correspondence, and relevant data for future reference.
Support senior estimators in preparing tender submissions and proposals.
Previous experience or relevant education in construction, engineering, or a related field is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with an eye for detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating initiative independently. This position offers a valuable pathway for career development within the construction or engineering sectors, providing hands-on experience in project estimation and cost management.

Pay: £25,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
