Job Summary
We are offering an excellent opportunity for dedicated, reliable, punctual Kitchen Porters and Kitchen Assistants to join our kitchen team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the kitchen is clean, hygienically compliant to the food standards and HACCP. We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced restaurant. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen area is clean, organised, and fully stocked. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in the culinary field, particularly within hotels or restaurants. You must ensure the kitchen condition is well-organised in consultation with chef. Your responsibilities will include deep cleaning, general porterage, assisting chefs with food preparation, and carrying out a variety of tasks as required. This role also includes full compliance with food safety, hygiene and HACCP regulations, essential training will be provided.
Essential RequirementsSkills & Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision of chef /Manager
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good time management and multitasking skills.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members effectively.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods, lifting, and carrying heavy items. The job may involve moving and placing items on height
- Reliable, punctual, honest, respectful, adaptable, and flexible.
- Ability to stand long hours, start work split hours such as early hours and late hours
Knowledge & Experience
- Understanding of basic kitchen hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Experience in a similar role (e.g., kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, catering assistant, cleaning) is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is critical.
- Familiarity with Food Hygiene, Allergy Awarenss, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines is an advantage.
- Experience as Kitchen Assistant or Kitchen Porter for at least 2 years is must working as hygiene operative is important.
- Knowledge and competence working as kitchen, deep cleaning and use of right chemicals.
