Full job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will provide high-quality venepuncture services, ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for our patients.

Working 15 hours a week across 3 mornings, you will be responsible for obtaining blood samples from patients in a professional manner, maintaining clinical records, and preparing specimens for laboratory courier collection.

Key Requirements

Venepuncture Qualification: A recognised certificate/competency in phlebotomy (essential).
Experience: Previous clinical experience in a healthcare or GP practice setting (highly desirable).
Skills: Excellent communication, a reassuring patient-facing manner, strong attention to detail, and sound computer literacy.

Responsibilites

Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS Web
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at West Suffolk Hospital
Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
