Flexible / Bank / Variable Hours
Rooted in Care. Giving Change a Chance.
At Arbour Healthcare Group, we provide specialist residential care for children and young people who need safe, consistent and emotionally attuned adults around them.
We support young people with complex needs, including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural needs, trauma histories and experiences that may have shaped how they see themselves, others and the world around them.
Our role is not simply to manage behaviour. Our role is to understand what sits behind it, build trust, create safety and give young people the chance to experience something different.
We are now recruiting Residential Support Workers to join our flexible workforce across our specialist solo and dual-occupancy children’s homes.
This role is ideal for people who want flexibility, variety and meaningful work, while still being part of a values-led organisation with a clear purpose.
About the role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will work alongside our care teams to support children and young people in their day-to-day lives.
You will help create a safe, nurturing and structured environment where young people feel respected, supported and understood. You will support routines, activities, emotional regulation, safeguarding, recording and positive relationships.
This is not a role where you simply turn up and sit in the background. Our young people need adults who are present, calm, observant, resilient and willing to make a positive difference, even on the difficult days.
Flexible working
This position does not come with guaranteed contracted hours or a fixed shift pattern.
Instead, it offers flexibility. You will be able to provide your availability and work shifts that suit both you and the needs of the service.
You may be asked to work across different Arbour Healthcare Group homes, depending on where support is needed. This means you must be adaptable, reliable and able to work as part of different teams while maintaining the same high standard of care.
What you will be doing
- Providing high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people
- Supporting young people with daily routines, activities and emotional wellbeing
- Creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment
- Responding calmly and professionally to challenging situations
- Following safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns appropriately
- Maintaining accurate records, daily logs, observations and incident reports
- Supporting young people to build confidence, life skills and positive relationships
- Working as part of a wider team to provide consistent care
- Promoting dignity, privacy, respect and choice
- Supporting the delivery of our RESET Care Model: Reassure, Empower, Support, Educate and Transition
What we are looking for
We are looking for people who are caring, resilient and reliable.
You may already have experience in children’s residential care, support work, youth work, education, mental health, learning disabilities or complex needs. However, we are also interested in people with the right values, attitude and willingness to learn.
The ideal candidate will have:
- The ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations
- An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- A caring, consistent and child-centred approach
- Good communication and recording skills
- The ability to work flexibly across different services
- A willingness to learn about trauma-informed care, PACE, therapeutic approaches and positive behaviour support
- The confidence to use initiative while working safely within care plans, risk assessments and company procedures
- A professional attitude and the ability to be a positive role model
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people to make progress
- Previous experience in a children’s residential home is desirable, but not essential for the right person.
