Quality Manager
Humdinger Bromborough, Wirral (CH62)
Play a key role in driving food safety, quality and compliance at one of the UK’s leading nut processing sites. As Quality Assurance Manager at Humdinger in Bromborough, you will oversee a high-performing team and shape a strong quality culture across the factory.
Position type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 (flexibility required)

Responsibilities:
People & Leadership

Manage and develop the site Quality and QA team, including recruitment, performance reviews, absence management and day-to-day people activity

Set clear objectives and monitor progress through regular 1:1s and performance reviews

Coach and support team members to build capability, close skills gaps and ensure high performance standards

Motivate teams to drive a strong quality and food safety culture across the wider site

Deliver effective communication through briefings and updates to ensure teams are aligned and informed
Quality Standards, GMP & Compliance
-
Ensure all intake, in-process and finished product quality checks are completed to required standards
-
Maintain and continuously improve GMP standards through auditing, coaching and corrective actions

Ensure all products and processes meet internal specifications, customer requirements and food safety standards

Lead allergen management standards across the site, ensuring control measures are fully understood and implemented

Drive “right first time” culture to reduce defects, rework and quality losses
Audits, Customer & Technical Compliance

In collaboration with the site Technical Manager, support internal and external audits, including BRC and retailer audits, ensuring successful outcomes

Manage responses to audit findings, ensuring robust root cause analysis and timely close-out of non-conformances

Interpret and implement customer codes of practice and technical standards across the site

Act as the key quality contact during customer visits, audits and technical reviews
Quality Systems, Documentation & Reporting

Maintain and improve quality systems including QMS documentation, procedures and standards

Ensure traceability, internal audits, testing schedules and verification activities are completed as required

Analyse QA data, complaints and non-conformance trends to drive performance improvements

Ensure all quality documentation is accurate, up to date and audit-ready
Incidents, Complaints & Continuous Improvement

Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformances, ensuring effective root cause and preventative actions

Reduce complaint levels and QA holds through structured problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives

Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities while maintaining product quality
-
Support site-wide initiatives to improve food safety, quality performance and operational excellence
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Working

Work closely with Operations, NPD, H&S, Hygiene, Engineering and HR teams to deliver site objectives

Act as the link between NPD and the factory to ensure smooth product trials and launches
-
Build strong relationships with customers, auditors and external stakeholders

Collaborate across the group to share best practice and drive consistent quality standards
Qualifications:
Experience
-
Experience managing a Quality team within a food manufacturing environment
-
Proven track record of managing audits, including BRC and retailer standards
-
Strong experience of GMP, HACCP and food safety systems
-
Experience investigating non-conformances, complaints and driving root cause solutions
-
Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, NPD, Hygiene and Engineering teams
-
Exposure to customer-facing audits and technical interactions
-
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

Level 3 Food Safety (or equivalent)

Level 3 HACCP (or equivalent)

Internal auditing qualification or relevant experience

Customer-specific training courses (e.g. M&S)- desirable but not essential

Humdinger Bromborough (Wirral) is a major UK nut processing and packing site, employing around 200 people within a 67,000 sq. ft purpose‑built facility. The site has a long heritage in nut and peanut processing and became part of Humdinger in 2023. Today, Bromborough processes and packs over 23,000 tonnes per year, supplying high‑quality nut snacks, peanut products and ingredients across retail, food service and ingredient channels. With a strong focus on allergen control, dry roasting expertise and operational excellence, the site plays a critical role in delivering safe, compliant and high‑quality snacking products to customers.
