Full job description

The Sessional Trainer will be a part of our service delivery team supporting our families to connect, fit in, and thrive as themselves.

You will use your knowledge and experience to provide innovative and compassionate training to engage, inform and empower our families to help reduce their isolation, increase their self-esteem and improve their wellbeing.

Hours are offered for projects throughout the year and you can choose what you want to commit to delivering.

Opportunities as a Sessional Trainer include:

Project 5 Mental Health Resilience – Sessional trainers would deliver mental health and resilience sessions and programmes to children, young people, parents and carers, teachers and professionals. JIGSAW Thornbury have a monthly Growing Empowerment Together (GET) group for young people aged 8-25 to attend with their parent or carer and offer schools packages for years 2, 4 and 6. Topics include resilience, emotional intelligence, communication, sleep, relationships, and managing change or transitions.

Project 5 in Schools – Sessional trainers deliver 4-6 weekly sessions supporting year 2, 4 and 6 students with their emotional resilience, equipping them with tools to recognise, communicate and manage their wellbeing. All sessions involve hands on learning through practical and creative activities.

Parent and Carer Awareness – Sessional trainers will help to identify topics relevant to parents and carers, develop content and deliver workshops. Our Parent and Carer Workshops at JIGSAW Thornbury are designed to support, empower, and connect families raising children with additional needs or disabilities. Each session offers practical strategies, real-life guidance, and a safe, understanding space where parents and carers feel heard and validated.

BRIDGE (Building Respect, Inclusion, Diversity, and Genuine Equality) – Sessional trainers would deliver disability awareness workshops with a variety of stakeholders with the aim of increasing awareness and confidence. Main themes explore the law related to services and activities, tackling ableism, assessing environments and interactions to support individuals with disability, exploring support, engagement, and inclusivity.

We are looking for individuals with personal and professional knowledge, experience and expertise in supporting children and young people, families and others with an additional need, difference, disability.

Pay: £13.72 per hour
