Job Title: Delivery Driver (Van / 7.5 Tonne LGV) – Rhymney, South Wales
Responsible to: Transport Manager
Location: Oakridge Direct Ltd, Maerdy Industrial Estate, Rhymney, Tredegar, NP22 5YD
Job Description: We are a leading manufacturer of sofas, chairs and accessories, delivering directly from our factory in Rhymney, South Wales to customers' homes throughout the UK using our own fleet of vehicles.
We are currently recruiting Delivery Drivers to join our team, with an immediate start available.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in professional driving. Applications are welcomed from candidates who hold a standard UK driving licence, as well as those already qualified to drive 7.5 tonne vehicles. Training and support to obtain a Category C1 licence can be provided for the right candidate, allowing for career progression and increased earnings.
The Role
Successful candidates will be responsible for completing home deliveries and collections safely, professionally and efficiently. Drivers may operate either a company van (up to 3.5 tonnes) or a 7.5 tonne LGV vehicle, depending on qualifications and operational requirements.
The role will involve:
- Home delivery of furniture and accessories direct to customers. Local collections and deliveries. Working as part of a two-person delivery crew when required. Assisting with the loading and securing of vehicles. Following pre-planned delivery routes. Providing excellent customer service and representing the company in a professional manner.
Delivery routes may include overnight stays, with a typical route consisting of two days and one night away from home.
As most of our sales are completed online, our delivery teams play a vital role in the customer experience. We are therefore looking for individuals who are reliable, presentable, well-mannered and possess a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence. Excellent customer service skills. Reliable and professional approach to work. Good level of physical fitness.
Desirable Requirements
- Category C1 licence. Driver CPC qualification. Digital tachograph card.
Training towards a Category C1 licence can be provided for suitable candidates who are looking to develop their driving career.
Pay and Benefits
- £13.50 per hour – Van Driver (up to 3.5 tonnes). £14.00 per hour – 7.5 Tonne Driver. £33.00 night-out allowance. Additional routes may attract enhanced rates of pay. Company pension scheme.
