About Walford Construction
Walford Construction is a growing, well-established contractor operating across Greater Manchester and the North West, delivering high-quality residential extensions, refurbishments, structural alterations and bespoke construction projects.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Working Foreman / Lead Joiner to join our team on a long-term basis.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced tradesperson who can lead by example on site whilst carrying out high-quality joinery works and assisting with the day-to-day running of projects.
The Role
The successful candidate will be a skilled all-round joiner with experience managing smaller sites, co-ordinating trades and maintaining excellent relationships with clients.
The role will involve carrying out a variety of first and second fix joinery works whilst taking responsibility for site organisation, quality control and daily co-ordination.
Key Responsibilities
Joinery Works
- First fix joinery including timber framing, roofing, floor structures and studwork
- Roof construction and associated carpentry work
- Installation of doors, linings and ironmongery
- Second fix joinery including skirting boards, architraves and finishing works
- Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard of workmanship
Site Management & Co-ordination
- Assisting with the day-to-day management of smaller projects
- Co-ordinating labour, subcontractors and deliveries
- Maintaining site organisation, cleanliness and professionalism
- Monitoring quality and workmanship on site
- Helping ensure projects are delivered safely on programme, and to budget
Client Liaison
- Acting as a professional point of contact for clients on site
- Providing updates on progress when required
- Maintaining excellent customer service and communication throughout projects
Health & Safety
- Ensuring works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Supporting site inductions and toolbox talks where required
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Joiner within the construction industry
- Experience carrying out roofing, first fix and second fix joinery works
- Previous experience leading small teams or running smaller projects
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- A professional and customer-focused approach
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Experience working within residential construction preferred
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (preferred)
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
