Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and culinary arts, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in creating authentic sushi dishes in a vibrant restaurant environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare sushi to a high standard (uramaki, nigiri, sashimi)
Manage daily prep and ensure smooth service
Maintain consistency and speed during busy periods
Support menu development (fusion & hot items)
Oversee stock control and reduce waste
Ensure full hygiene and food safety compliance

Requirements:

Proven experience as a sushi chef in a busy kitchen
Strong knife skills and attention to detail
Ability to perform under pressure
Organised, reliable, and team-oriented

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant environment.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, particularly in sushi making and meal preparation.
Experience working in a professional kitchen with an emphasis on food safety practices.
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, especially within Japanese or Asian cuisine establishments.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Good communication skills and a friendly attitude towards customers and team members.
Serving experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is important.

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
