As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Smart Buildings & AV Systems Engineer to join our team in Knutsford.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working with cutting-edge technology and delivering high-quality smart building and AV solutions. You will play a key role in the programming, commissioning, integration, and support of systems across a wide range of projects and client environments.
The Opportunity
As a Smart Buildings & AV Systems Engineer, you will be involved in the delivery and ongoing support of residential and commercial smart building projects. Working closely with project managers, clients, and fellow engineers, you will contribute to the successful implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of intelligent building technologies.
This role offers a diverse mix of technical project work, client interaction, system integration, and problem-solving, making it ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Delivery
- Program, commission, optimise, and support intelligent building and AV systems.
- Configure and maintain KNX and DALI lighting control systems across multiple projects.
- Integrate AV, lighting control, building management, and smart technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across deployed systems.
- Assist in testing and validating system performance to ensure reliable operation.
- Contribute to the delivery of solutions that meet quality, performance, and client requirements.
Project Delivery
- Support the design and technical development of smart building and AV solutions.
- Assist with system configuration, installation, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Participate in client demonstrations and user training sessions.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, and end users throughout project delivery.
- Ensure project documentation is completed accurately and maintained throughout delivery.
Service & Support
- Provide technical support across residential and commercial client sites.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across integrated smart building, AV, lighting control, and networking systems.
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive support services.
- Maintain and support KNX, AV, CCTV, and integrated control systems.
- Produce clear technical documentation, reports, and service records.
- Build positive client relationships through responsive technical support and service delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience programming and commissioning KNX systems.
- Strong background in integrated AV systems, including Control4 or equivalent platforms.
- Experience delivering projects from installation through to commissioning and handover.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities across integrated technology systems.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Skills
- DALI lighting control experience.
- Experience with Crestron, Lutron, AMX, RTI, or similar control platforms.
- Networking and IP infrastructure knowledge.
- AutoCAD and/or DTools experience.
- ECS or CSCS card.

Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary of £37,500 – £42,500 dependent on experience.
