Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Carpet Fitter/Floor Layer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing a variety of flooring materials, primarily carpets, ensuring precise fitting and finishing. This role requires a good understanding of construction principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Duties
- Measure and prepare floors for carpet and flooring installation in accordance with schematics and client specifications
- Cut, lay, and secure carpets, vinyl, or other flooring materials using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment
- Ensure proper adhesion and finishing of flooring surfaces for durability and aesthetic appeal
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings, or plans related to flooring layouts
- Prepare sub-floors by cleaning, levelling, or repairing surfaces as necessary
- Assist with carpentry tasks such as trimming or fitting skirting boards to ensure seamless flooring installation
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout each project
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times during installation processes
Experience
- Previous experience in construction or flooring installation is highly desirable
- Proficiency with hand tools such as cutters, knives, hammers, and screwdrivers
- Familiarity with power tools including drills, saws, and sanders
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques and basic construction painting is advantageous
- Ability to read schematics or technical drawings related to flooring layouts
- Experience working with various flooring materials and surface preparation techniques is preferred
