Here at St Andrews Timber and Building at Prestonfield, Edinburgh, we are looking for a summer temp to work in our yard, from the start of June to the end of September
The hours would be Monday to Friday 7.30 am to 4.30pm and every second Saturday 8.00am to 12.00noon
You will be helping the yard staff on various tasks, so being able to work as part of a team and under your own initiative would be beneficial.
Knowledge of working in a builders merchants would be beneficial and we would prefer you to have a current forklift licence, but not essential

Yard operative/forklift driver
In this role you will work as part of our external team of staff. Most of your time would be spent outdoors in the yard. The work can be physically demanding at times. There is always plenty to do and a variety of jobs, so it is important the candidate can use initiative and is able to manage their time. Interacting with customers and making sure they are assisted in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Assisting customers with their orders
· Providing excellent customer service
· Picking and checking orders
· Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.
· Unloading vehicles, check materials against documentation, and store material according to agreed processes
· Loading vehicles, checking materials against relevant documentation, according to agreed processes
· Loading may be by hand or using a forklift truck
· Reporting high or low stock holdings to Procurement team
KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
· Ideally someone with experience within the builders' merchants’ sector
· Experience in manual handling and be comfortable working on your feet
· Experience using a forklift
· To be a great team player
· Hard working
· Positive attitude
· Good attention to detail.
