About this role:

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Out of School Care Lead Practitioner to join our friendly community nursery team in Renfrewshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced childcare professional to lead and support our after-school care provision, creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for school-aged children.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our after-school care service, ensuring high-quality care, play and learning experiences in line with Scottish Government guidance, Care Inspectorate expectations, Health and Social Care Standards, and SSSC Codes of Practice.

Main Responsibilities

Lead the daily operation of the after-school care service.
Provide high-quality care and support that promotes children’s wellbeing, inclusion and rights.
Plan and deliver stimulating play experiences and activities which reflect children’s interests and developmental needs.
Ensure children are cared for in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff and colleagues.
Support children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, independence and social development.
Maintain appropriate records, risk assessments and attendance documentation.
Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate requirements, Health and Social Care Standards and safeguarding procedures.
Supervise and support staff within the service as required.
Contribute to self-evaluation and continuous improvement within the setting.
Promote equality, inclusion and children’s participation in decision-making.
Adhere to SSSC Codes of Practice and work in accordance with current Scottish childcare guidance.

Essential Requirements

Experience working with school-aged children in a childcare, out of school care or early years setting.
Relevant childcare qualification recognised by the SSSC (HNC, SVQ level 7)
Ability to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Good understanding of child protection and GIRFEC principles.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative independently.

Desirable

Previous experience in a lead or senior practitioner role.
Knowledge of Care Inspectorate quality frameworks and Health and Social Care Standards.

Pay: £15.84 per hour
