Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality Musical Theatre training within our Advanced Pro programme.
- Plan and deliver engaging weekly classes in acting, singing and dance.
- Direct and creatively lead our annual Christmas pantomime, overseeing casting, rehearsals, character development and the overall artistic vision.
- Choreograph productions and showcase performances to a professional standard.
- Teach acting technique, characterisation, storytelling and stagecraft.
- Prepare students for productions, showcases, competitions and external performance opportunities.
- Provide constructive feedback that supports students' technical and personal development.
- Mentor aspiring performers and, where appropriate, prepare students for auditions, drama school applications and professional opportunities.
- Adapt choreography, staging and teaching approaches to suit different age groups, abilities and performance spaces.
- Work collaboratively with the Academy Director and wider teaching team to maintain consistently high standards across the academy.
- Attend production meetings, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and performances.
- Assist with production planning, casting and rehearsal scheduling.
- Uphold DBAA's safeguarding procedures, professional standards and academy values at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Professional experience within the Musical Theatre industry.
- Experience directing full-scale productions.
- Strong choreography skills across a range of musical theatre styles.
- Strong vocal coaching ability.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor and inspire children and young people.
- Experience working with performers of varying ages and abilities.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel between DBAA venues.
- Availability for evening classes, weekends and intensive rehearsal periods leading up to productions.
Desirable
- Estill Voice Training or an equivalent recognised vocal qualification.
- Professional performing experience.
- Experience teaching Musical Theatre to children and young people.
- Experience directing youth theatre productions.
- Experience preparing students for auditions and drama school entry.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience adapting or writing scripts for youth productions.
