Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and hospitality to develop their skills within a professional environment. The position involves working closely with senior chefs, supervising team members, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Prior kitchen experience and a strong work ethic are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support food production processes, ensuring efficiency and quality control
Supervise junior kitchen staff and coordinate tasks during service periods
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen
Manage stock levels, organise ingredients, and ensure proper storage procedures are followed
Collaborate with the team to plan menus and develop new culinary ideas
Serve food to guests in a professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction
Support senior chefs in organising kitchen operations during busy periods and special events
Uphold hospitality standards by providing excellent service and maintaining a positive team environment

Requirements

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety regulations
Supervising experience or leadership qualities to manage team members effectively
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Passion for culinary arts with a keen eye for detail and presentation
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Previous experience in food production, restaurant service, or catering is highly desirable
A recognised culinary qualification or relevant training is advantageous but not essential
Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as required
