Based across Malpas, Tattenhall and Farndon
Laurel Bank Surgery is looking for a practical and people‑focused IT Assistant to provide day to day technical support across our three GP practice sites. You will be the first point of contact for IT issues, helping staff with systems, equipment and digital workflows. The role supports our move toward modern digital care including ambient AI, neighbourhood digital tools and ICB led programmes.
About the role
You will work closely with the Operations Lead to keep our digital environment secure, efficient and well supported.
Your responsibilities will include:
IT Support and Troubleshooting Providing first line support for staff across all sites
Using remote access tools to diagnose and resolve issues
Managing the internal IT request log and escalating issues when needed Liaising with external IT service desks including ICB, system suppliers and telecoms providers
Setting up user accounts, email profiles and access permissions
Supporting EMIS, MS Office, AccuRx, Docman and other clinical and administrative systems Installing, configuring and testing new equipment
Keeping workstations tidy and equipment in good working order
Systems and Infrastructure
Carrying out routine system checks
Supporting updates, upgrades and basic maintenance
Monitoring backup processes and ensuring secure data storage
Maintaining the IT asset register
Supporting telephony systems including handset resets
Acting as administrator for practice email management
Starters and Leavers
Preparing equipment and access for new starters
Managing offboarding including account removal, equipment recovery and audit trails
Smartcard and RA Support
Acting as delegated RA support for Smartcard tasks
Supporting the Operations Lead with RA Supervisor and Sponsor duties
Liaising with Registration Authority and ICB digital teams
Data, Searches and Audit
Running simple EMIS searches
Supporting mail merges and digital communications
Digital Transformation
Supporting rollout of new digital tools and NHS or ICB initiatives
Testing new systems and gathering staff feedback
Helping identify workflow improvements
Supporting MS Teams and internal communication tools
Contributing to digital innovation including ambient AI, neighbourhood digital systems and AI supported triage tools
Training and Staff Support
Providing patient and friendly support to staff with varying digital confidence
Helping create user guides and training materials
Delivering short training sessions or one to one support Website and
Communications
Assisting with website updates
Supporting social media activity
Ensuring website content meets NHS and GP benchmarking standards
Documentation and Business Continuity
Maintaining accurate IT documentation
Updating TeamNet Logging changes, fixes and installations
Supporting business continuity planning and backup testing
Pay: £14.00 per hour
