We are looking to recruit a Client Finance Audit Assistant to join our Direct Payments Audit Team within Client Finance.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, supportive and well-established team, playing a key role in ensuring that public funds are used appropriately and that service user payments are accurate and well managed. The role supports both Adult and Children’s Social Care services.

What you’ll be doing
In this role you will:
- Complete a range of financial and administrative tasks relating to Direct Payments and service user accounts
- Review and audit financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with legislation and council policy
- Identify discrepancies in payments, invoices and financial records and resolve queries efficiently and sensitively
- Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and security standards
- Liaise with internal teams, external organisations and service users regarding financial queries
- Respond to enquiries via telephone, email and written correspondence
- Support reviews of ongoing direct payments
- Contribute to improving processes and identifying areas for service.
This is a fast-paced role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
What we’re looking for
To succeed in this role you will:
- Have experience working in a financial or administrative environment
- Be confident using IT systems, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Be able to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- Communicate clearly and sensitively with a range of audiences, including vulnerable people
- Be a positive and adaptable team player
Experience of working with financial or case management systems (e.g. Liquidlogic, Controcc) and working directly with service user and their representatives is desirable.
